Donations of school supplies for the 2017-2018 school year are currently being accepted for the cause, in memory of Colton Denney, who died after drowning in the family swimming pool Memorial Day Weekend 2012. more
The expected start of the murder trial for the suspect accused of kidnapping and murdering a Tyler girl last November in Bullard has officially been pushed back until next year. On Thursday, July 6, Gustavo Zavala-Garcia, who was arrested in November 2016 and charged with capital murder in the disappearance and death of 10-year-old Kayla Gomez-Orozco of Tyler, appeared in a pre-trial hearing before the 241st District Court of Judge Jack Skeen Jr. more
A Bullard woman was arrested last week after being identified as a suspect in a jewelry theft case in Cherokee County. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation into the case began Tuesday, July 11, when the department received word of a case of stolen property from a residence in Petty Estates, located near Lake Palestine in northwestern Cherokee County. A statement from the homeowner provided by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department said that she had returned home after being out of town and noticed several items from the home missing, including a large amount of jewelry. more

As the month of July transitioned into August, approximately 20 members of Bullard Boy Scout Troop No. 366 set sail on a 75-foot schooner sail boat, the Grand Nellie, for a six day, five night excursion aboard experience, allowing the scouts to learn how to crew a sail boat as they sailed around the Florida Keys. more

A suspect in an ongoing investigation into a daring car burglary in broad daylight outside of a daycare center in Bullard in 2015 was recently apprehended by authorities. Jeremy Michael Gans, the suspect named by the Bullard Police Department last January was arrested by the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday, Nov. 22. Details surrounding Gans’ arrest by VZSD were not immediately made known to Bullard Banner News. more

The Bullard Rotary Club is currently welcoming members of the community to hit the links at the organization’s fourth annual golf tournament event, to be held Monday, Oct. 9, at Bullard’s own Eagle’s Bluff Country Club, located at 700 N. Eagle’s Bluff Blvd. The tournament will be split into a morning and an afternoon flight, Registration for the morning flight will begin at 7 a.m. with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, while the afternoon flight’s registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start. In between the two flights of golfing fun, a lunch catered by Eagle’s Bluff will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. more
