A Bullard teenager was killed, and four others were injured, after a rollover accident in North Central Texas last weekend. According to reports, the accident occurred around 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, on Interstate 35 near mile marker 348, south of the city of West, causing traffic to be backed up for hours. more
The city of Bullard was filled with patriotic pride and American freedom, as members of the East Texas community paid tribute to true American heroes at the 2018 East Texas Salute event, held Saturday, May 12, on the grounds of the Brook Hill Upper School and the American Freedom Museum. The event this year, which drew an estimated attendance of 6,500-7,000, was to celebrate and honor veterans of the Vietnam War, a group of American heroes that were not given the honor they deserved when they returned from the battlefield. more
The Brook Hill School recently announced the names of the students who will serve as the school’s valedictorian and salutatorian at the school’s upcoming graduation ceremony, to be held Saturday, May 19. Bailey Gunter will represent the Class of 2018 as the valedictorian at this year’s graduation ceremony. He is the son of Craig and Holly Gunter. more
Approximately 300 students and parents associated with the Bullard High School Future Farmers of America gathered inside the Bullard Elementary School cafetorium Thursday, May 3, to honor and recognize the achievements made by members of the organization. The celebration also reflected back on past years, as the BHS FFA organization marked its 78th anniversary this year. more
Bullard Independent School District continues to be represented by a member of the district’s Board of Trustees taking part in a statewide program aimed at bettering public education across the state of Texas. Elected to the Place 6 chair of the Bullard ISD school board in May 2016 and also currently serving as the governing body’s secretary, Bullard ISD trustee Jon Jacobs joined 30 other school board members from across Texas at the third session of the Leadership TASB Class of 2018, held Thursday through Saturday, Wednesday through Friday, Feb. 28-March 2. more
The Bullard Independent School District’s athletic department is offering students and parents another opportunity to participate in an event aimed at alerting them to any possible hidden heart conditions through the second cardiovascular testing event hosted by the Bullard High School athletic trainers this school year. “This is a great opportunity for the Bullard High School athletic trainers to host an event dedicated to providing safety to our students and athletes,” said Jeff Shrode, Bullard ISD head athletic trainer. “With all of the cardiovascular issues and problems present in athletics or other activities, this is a step to make sure everyone is safe by examining students for any signs of trouble.” more
The Bullard Independent School District Board of Trustees will soon welcome two new members to serve the students, teachers, and parents of the district, as the general election for the school district’s governing body was held Saturday, May 5. more
