Smith County has released an informational video so voters can easily obtain information on the Road Bond Election set for Tuesday, Nov. 7. “We are committed to go above and beyond in this process to make sure the public has full, accurate and timely information about the upcoming bond election,” Smith County Judge Nathaniel Moran said. “We want them to make an informed decision, whether for or against, when they vote.” more
The Brook Hill School announced last week the names of the senior students that will comprise the 2017 Brook Hill Homecoming Court. “We’re honored to have these students representing our senior class and our school,” said Brook Hill, in a release. “These students are prime examples of what we hope our students will become; they work hard, are kind to others, and exemplify Christ-like character.” This year, a total of three senior female students were selected as Homecoming Queen nominees, including Maddie Anthony, Katy Dulany, and Meimei Zeng. more
One of Bullard Independent School District’s most spirited student organizations recently returned home from taking on the tough competition at a summer camp event, resulting in the capturing of numerous awards, as well as team and individual accolades. The Bullard Middle School cheerleading squad, under the direction of sponsors Angie McClure and Megan Dublin, received a total of six awards after attending the Universal Cheerleading Association’s cheer camp, held Tuesday through Friday, July 18-21, at the Texas A&M University – College Station campus. more
On September 29, 2017, in the 2nd Judicial District Court of Cherokee County, Texas, a jury of 12 members found Clifton Wayne Jones guilty of Continuous Sexual Assault of a Child. The victim, who shall remain nameless, confronted her accuser and testified about a series of sexual acts that Mr. Jones inflicted on her over a period of several months. more

A member of the Bullard Independent School District Board of Trustees was recently selected in a Texas Association of School Boards program aimed at helping and bettering school boards across the state. Jon Jacobs, elected to the Place 6 chair of the Bullard ISD school board in May 2016, will represent the district as a part of the year-long Leadership TASB program. more
With the city of Bullard being known originally as a farming community, one of the city’s local farms is celebrating a milestone in its history, as it prepares to open the front gates and welcome tourists and school children on field trips for another year of fall fun. Moore Farms, a favorite location for many East Texans in the fall known primarily for its vast fields of pumpkins, is located at 22142 CR 181 in Bullard, and is now open for all to come and experience. more
The Bullard High School Panther Marching Band recently returned from performing on one of the largest stages in East Texas after receiving an invitation to perform during the halftime intermission at Stephen F. Austin State University’s Homer Bryce Stadium. “The chance to perform at a collegiate football game like we were afforded at SFA is a tremendous opportunity for our band program and our students,” said Gary Jordan, Bullard ISD Director of Bands. “I knew it would be a great experience because not many high school bands have the opportunity to share a halftime performance with a collegiate band with a packed home team audience. more
The Bullard Rotary Club announced a change in the schedule to its upcoming fourth annual golf tournament event, to be held Monday, Oct. 9, at Eagle’s Bluff Country Club, located at 700 N. Eagle’s Bluff Blvd. Originally scheduled to feature two flights for players hitting the links in support of the Bullard Rotary Club, the tournament will now feature just an afternoon flight, with registration beginning at 10:30 a.m. with a lunch served at 11:30 a.m. and a 1 p.m. tournament shotgun start. more
