The Bullard Middle School choral program has begun the new year with resounding success, as the choir recently competed at the All-Region Choir Contest, held Saturday, Oct. 5, at Hallsville Junior High School. At the competition, a total of 27 BMS choir members competed against the tough competition for chair placements. Out of the competitors from BMS, the program managed to place 19 of its members in the All-Region Choir. more
One local church is not letting clowns and darkness stop the Light, as Flint Baptist Church, located at 11131 Farm-to-Market Rd. 2868 W. in Flint, has decided to light up their campus for the Halloween holiday Monday, Oct. 31. more
The City of Bullard’s Utilities Department will be busy over the next month working to replace all water meters within the city limits. According to a post on the City of Bullard’s Facebook page, crews began installing new water meters throughout the city of Bullard on Monday, Oct. 24. more
With the month of October designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, students at Bullard Middle School are doing their part to raise awareness and funds to fight the disease. “This is my first time to be involved in a project like this,” said April Luptak, BMS technology teacher. “It was excited to present this project to the students because they had so many great ideas about raising money and awareness about breast cancer. Also, several students use this opportunity to honor their family members that have fought, and sometimes have died from, breast cancer, and to gather money to fight it.” more
The names of two local residents that have recently indicted were listed on several Smith County Grand Jury Agendas. In the agenda for the 7th Judicial District Court dated for Thursday, Sept. 22, Carl Jackson, Jr., of the 1700 block of Hwy 155 S. in Flint, was arrested by the Tyler Police Department Wednesday, Aug. 10, as well as Friday, Aug. 19, and was charged with three counts of Theft. According to the Smith County Grand Jury Agenda, Jackson currently remains inside the Smith County Jail on bonds totaling $80,000. more
