Longtime Smith County Extension Agent Chad Gulley was honored this summer with state and national Distinguished Service Awards. Gulley, the Smith County Extension Agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources, received the 2017 Distinguished Service Award, along with four other agents from Texas, at the National Association of County Agricultural Agents (NACAA) meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah, July 9-13. more
A suspect was taken into custody the Smith County Sheriff’s Office after a June stabbing in the Flint area. According to a press release sent by Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith, the sheriff’s office received a call at approximately 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 27 reporting a stabbing in the vicinity of the 22000 block of Highway 155 S., in Flint. more

The mission of keeping the memory of a young Bullard child who passed away in a drowning accident in 2012 alive is the foundation of the third annual Backpacks 4 Colton campaign. Donations of school supplies for the 2017-2018 school year are currently being accepted for the cause, in memory of Colton Denney, who died after drowning in the family swimming pool Memorial Day Weekend 2012. more
