Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar recently announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems, and special purpose taxing districts a total of $787.8 million in local sales tax allocations for the month of May. The amount sent out by Hegar’s office represents a 2.6 percent increase from the amount released in May 2016. “The cities of Irving, Round Rock, Dallas, San Antonio and Odessa saw noticeable increases in sales tax allocations,” Hegar said. “The cities of McAllen and Sugar Land saw noticeable decreases.” more

The Bullard Independent School District Board of Trustees welcomed one new member recently elected, as well as two current members recently re-elected, to the school’s district governing body during the final regular school board meeting of the school year, held Thursday, May 18, inside the Bullard High School Audry B. Owens Auditorium. Brian Vestal, the newest trustee on the Bullard ISD Board of Trustees, was sworn in alongside the board’s president, Dr. John Alexander, and returning trustee Tony Johnson, as Secretary to the Superintendent Ashlee Jones administered the Oath of Office at the meeting. The Bullard ISD Board of Trustees received the canvassed voting results of the Elections for the Board of Trustees. more
