The City of Bullard will come alive with patriotic spirit, as well as be painted in a shade of red, white, and blue, as the Bullard Area Chamber of Commerce prepares to host the 17th annual BACC Red, White, and Blue Festival Saturday, Nov. 5, in downtown Bullard. “We are extremely excited for the Red, White, and Blue festival this year,” said Tracy Barnes, BACC secretary and organizer for the event. “We are hard at work to produce an event worthy of our veterans’ sacrifices and honor, and provide a fun-filled day of entertainment for all Bullard area citizens.” more

The man accused in the fatal shooting of a Smith County Deputy Constable K-9 earlier this year recently entered a guilty plea in court. Michael Paul Koch, 36, of Grand Saline, is charged with the January shooting of Pct. 5 K-9 Constable Ogar. The K-9 was shot and killed after chasing after Koch, who fled from a traffic stop made by Ogar's handler, Deputy Constable Kevin Petty. more
Opportunities for residents to participate in early voting for the upcoming Tuesday, Nov. 8 election will end across the state of Texas on Friday, Oct. 24. According to the Smith County Elections Department website as of Monday, Oct. 31, a total of 35,696 residents in Smith County out of the 135,185 residents registered to vote, or 26 percent, have participated in early voting during this election cycle. more

Patriotism By Hannah Lloyd Senior, Bullard High School I remember being a little girl, painting my face red, white, and blue, riding through the Fourth of July parade in my red wagon while waving the America flag high. I learned patriotic songs, the Pledge of Allegiance, historic events and American heroes. I’ve witnessed horrific acts like 9/11, Boston Marathon, and Orlando Florida attacks. I’ve learned how strong this country is, how we help each other, and bounce back even stronger after disasters. more
