The identity of the victim of an apparent homicide in Bullard last week has officially been released by law enforcement officials. Two men were arrested and officially charged with capital murder charges and booked into the Smith County Jail in connection to a murder scene worked by law enforcement on Thursday, July 5. more
A Flint man was recently arrested in connection to a Smith County murder investigation, accused recently of attempting to destroy evidence in the case. Dwayne Welch, 56, of Flint, was arrested by the Tyler Police Department Tuesday, June 12, and charged with Tampering/Fabricating with Physical Evidence, which is a third-degree felony charge. more
A former Bullard High School cheerleader has once again made the cut for a roster spot on a dance team that represents one of the iconic sports teams in American sports. Donald Love, a Class of 2008 graduate of Bullard High School, was recently selected to perform with the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm and Blue hip-hop dance team. more
The regular scheduled monthly meeting of the Bullard City Council will not take place in the month of July. According to an email obtained by Bullard Banner News, the July meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, July 10, was officially canceled on Friday, July 6. more

Camp and Cass Counties are closer to becoming a part of the North East Texas Regional Mobility Authority – NET RMA – after Smith County Commissioners passed a resolution during a recent meeting. Commissioner Terry Phillips was absent from the meeting; however, the vote was unanimous from the present members of the Commissioners Court. more
The University of Texas at Tyler recently released the names of several local residents on the school’s Spring 2018 President’s Honor Roll and Dean’s Lists. In total, 654 students were named to the Spring 2018 semester’s President’s Honor Roll. more
A total of 11,347 students enrolled during the 2018 spring semester at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean’s List with an academic record of 3.5 or above or the President’s List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A’s). The UA Dean’s and President’s lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or undergraduate students who take less than a full course load. more
The Smith County Republican Club will host Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller at the July monthly meeting. Miller is an eighth generation Texas farmer and serves now as the 12th Commissioner of the Texas Department of Agriculture. Since taking office, Miller has visited every continent on the globe to promote Texas agricultural products. more
Texans have many reasons to be proud of the Lone Star state, but for nine different regions around the state, air quality is not one of them. The Texas Department of Transportation’s Drive Clean Texas campaign wants to change that. The campaign wants motorists to take pride in keeping the air clean during the hottest time of year when slow wind speeds and hot, sunny days create conditions where harmful ground-level ozone can form — aided by vehicle tailpipe emissions. more
