Teaching Spanish classes at Bullard High School is the day job for husband and wife teaching partners Colby and Melinda Reid, helping students conjugate verbs and learn to correctly pronounce the Spanish alphabet. After the school bell rings to dismiss students for the day, the couple continues to team up, as they travel the short distance to Tyler to enjoy learning and training in the martial art of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. more
The scene at Bullard High School is more colorful now thanks to a large number of the BHS Class of 2017 “leaving their mark” on campus by participating in the second annual BHS Parking Lot Painting event, held Saturday, Sept. 9. more
Students attending Bullard ISD schools will join together and pray at their respective school’s flag poles during the annual See You at the Pole event, to be held 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27. “See You at the Pole is a fantastic opportunity for the students to come together not as individual churches, but as a community of fellow believers and just pray,” said Mike Bell, Bullard Southern Baptist Church youth pastor. They can pray for their school, their country, and each other. It’s really an interesting event to see the students take the initiative and step up to lead the event and the prayers.” more
The Bullard High School administration recently announced the candidates that will represent the school as members of the 2017 BHS Homecoming Court. This year, students at BHS selected three seniors to represent the school as Homecoming Queen candidates. Students selected as Homecoming queen candidates include Faith Crist, Nicole Jones, and Macy Riley. Crist is the daughter of Chip and Heather Crist. She has been involved with several BHS student organizations, including National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Health Occupations Students of America, Key Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Bullard Future Farmers of America. more
At the end of the 2016-2017 school year, several members of the Bullard High School Panther Band and Bullard High School Choir programs were able to achieve success, both individually and as small groups. The two BHS Fine Arts organizations competed at the 2017 UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contests, both held Saturday through Monday, May 27-29, at Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville. more
Known throughout East Texas for its giving heart in times of need, the Bullard community, as well as Bullard Independent School District and The Brook Hill School, stepped up to help their neighbors from Southeast Texas who were directly impacted by the flood waters and storm damage of Hurricane Harvey last week. Through a collaborative effort of collecting from the Bullard community, as well as Lindale Church of Christ, Bullard Church of Christ, Southside Church or Christ in Jacksonville, and Sadler’s in Jacksonville, a total of five trucks and four trailers loaded down with donations departed Bullard and traveled to Mauriceville, with Campbell Custom Homes owner Jason Campbell aboard the expedition. more
