The University of Texas at Tyler recently announced the new East Texas Research Conference to showcase pioneering scholarship impacting the region. The first conference will be held in May 2019. “We believe multidisciplinary research focused on the challenges and opportunities facing East Texas is an integral part of our mission and vision,” said Dr. Amir Mirmiran, UT Tyler provost and vice president for academic affairs. “This conference will not only showcase that meaningful research, but will also inspire innovative scholarship focused on our region.” more
Students involved in the Special Education department at Bullard Independent School District, along with several Bullard High School student clubs and organizations, were treated recently to a day of fun and games, tied together with the spirit of togetherness, during the Panther Rec Day event, held Friday, May 4, inside the BHS gymnasium. more
The fifth annual Smith County Area Go Texan scholarship gala is scheduled for Saturday, July 21, at Harvey Hall Convention Center, located at 2000 West Front St., in Tyler. The event begins at 6 p.m. and is the major fundraising event of the organization. “We are excited to see this event grow as it does each year,” said Wade Frederick, Smith County Area Go Texan member. “This event is the result of a great group of volunteers working for the benefit of our Smith County students. Those that attend this year will have a great time and leave knowing they have made a difference for local students.” more
Tyler Junior College has recognized 1,316 students named to the President’s and Dean’s Lists for their academic excellence during the Spring 2018 semester. The TJC President’s list, composed of students who complete a minimum of 12 hours of college-level courses with a 4.0 grade-point average, included a total of 453 students. more
The University Interscholastic League Legislative Council met Tuesday, June 12, to make decisions on proposed rule changes in UIL academics, athletics, music and policy. In athletics, the council approved the strengthening of penalties for players who are ejected from a contest, modified scrimmage start dates for baseball and softball. The council also modified fall practice regulations and spring training for football. more
The award-winning Bullard Belles drill team of Bullard High School continued its tradition of excellence and high achievement during the 2017-2018 school year, bringing home numerous awards and accolades during the organization’s competition season. more
Dr. Donny Lee, a former administrator at Bullard Independent School District, now the Superintendent of Schools at Oakwood ISD, was recently recognized for his efforts in education, as he was presented the 2017 Texas Association of Secondary School Principals’ Outstanding Texas Principal Award on Tuesday, June 12, at the Hilton Hotel in Austin. more

The Bullard High School Marching Panther Band recently returned from a band trip to Florida, which included marching in the “Magic Kingdom March” down Main Street USA at the Magic Kingdom. more
