A total of 17 students representing Bullard High School’s Class of 2018 were recently invited to be the guests of honor at a luncheon event recognizing Top 10 Percent seniors from around the area, held Tuesday, Oct. 10, on the campus of the University of Texas at Tyler. “We are very proud of this year’s top 10 percent of the senior class,” said Laura Hunter, BHS counselor. “They have worked so hard to get here and we are thankful for the recognition they have received from UT Tyler. The Bullard High School Twirlers recently took home a number of awards and state-qualifying credentials after competing at the recent UIL Region 21 Twirling Contest, held Wednesday, Oct. 25, at BHS. In total, the 12 members of the BHS Twirlers competed at the contest, bringing home a total of 10 First Division ratings and punching their tickets to the upcoming UIL State Twirling Contest, to be held Saturday through Monday, May 26- 28, at a site to be determined in the Austin area, according to the UIL website. more
In early 2016, a group of four Bullard High School freshman students were selected to send a science project into outer space. Now, the project has returned from its celestial visit and the team has been able to get a first glimpse of their findings with the help of a professor at the University of Texas at Tyler. The SpaceX CRS-12 Mission 11, America, launched from Cape Canaveral, Fla. on Monday, Aug. 14, carrying the experiment of now-BHS junior students Emmalie Ellis, Emma Rhyne, Valerie Vierkant, and Raelee Walker, entitled Microgravity’s Effects on Solanum Tuberosum Resistance to Phytophthora Infestans. more
The Bullard Area Chamber of Commerce recently announced the winners of the organization’s 2017 annual patriotic scholarship essay competition. The BACC Red, White, and Blue Patriotism Essay Competition application process began in the month of October. The purpose of the competition is to “honor American veterans and the sacrifices they have made to ensure freedom.” more
A member of the Bullard Independent School District Board of Trustees recently took part in a statewide program with the aim of bettering public education across Texas. Jon Jacobs, elected to the Place 6 chair of the Bullard ISD school board in May 2016, joined 30 other school board members from across Texas at the kickoff session of the Leadership TASB Class of 2018, held Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 5-7, at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. more
