With the month of December now in full swing, several of the Bullard Independent School District Fine Arts departments will be ushering in the Christmas spirit in their upcoming performances and events. Returning by popular demand, Bullard Middle School is once again preparing to host one of the largest Christmas-themed events of the season, opening its doors for the second annual BMS Mistletoe at the Middle School event, scheduled for Monday, Dec. 4. “Last year, we had a very successful Mistletoe at the Middle School event, being its first year,” said Jessica Phillips, BMS counselor. “It’s a great way to bring together the community and our school, all done in the spirit of Christmas. We want this to be an annual event, allowing it to grow and include more local vendors.” more
The Bullard High School Theater Department will soon host children of all ages, as the company prepares to host its portrayal of “Willy Wonka: The Musical” this weekend. Performances for the musical are slated for 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1-2, as well as 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, with all performances inside the BHS Audry B. Owens Auditorium. more
The months of October and November are usually the busiest for a Texas high school marching band program, affectionately known as “Bandtober,” filled with performances underneath the Friday Night Lights, as well as a number of marching band contests and festivals. For the Bullard High School Panther Marching Band, with Gary Jordan at the helm in his 23rd year as Bullard ISD Director of Bands, there are no days off in the fall semester. more
Two years after being arrested and charged with Enticing a Child, the trial for a former coach at The Brook Hill School began earlier this week. For five years, Clements, 63, of Flint, also known as “Papa Ricky” to Brook Hill students and in the community, served as the Lady Guard volleyball head coach, as well as the head coach for the Lady Guard basketball team. The trial is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, in the court of Judge Randall Rogers in the Smith County Court at Law No. 2. more
During Senior Night festivities held Friday, Nov. 3, at Bullard High School’s Panther Stadium, the award-winning Bullard Belles drill team recognized Captain Reagan Brasher as the organization’s 2017-2018 Belles Senior Sweetheart, while also honoring the team’s six senior members. more
