Bullard High School will have representation at the upcoming 2018 UIL Track and Field State Championships after several of the Panther and Lady Panther varsity track and field team members competed at the UIL Region II Track and Field Meet, held Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28, at Texas A&M University – Commerce. The lone athlete to represent the school at the State event this year will be Will McCowin, who will take part in both the long jump and triple jump events. more
Swinging their way to success at two recent golf tournaments was the Brook Hill Guard and Lady Guard varsity golf teams, two programs that will now compete at the upcoming TAPPS State Golf Tournament thanks to their strong finishes. Brook Hill Guard: The Brook Hill Guard varsity golf team faced off against a strong field of competitors at the TAPPS Class 5A District 2 Championship Tournament, held Monday, April 16, at Brook Haven Country Club in Farmers Branch. At the district event, the Guard team was able to locate the greens well, as the team took home the District Runner-Up recognition with a team score of 335, securing the entire time the qualifications to take part in the Regional golf tournament. more
By Micah McCartney Editor Brook Hill Lady Guard 12, All Saints Lady Trojans 1, FINAL AS: 0 0 0 0 1 - 1 BH: 4 2 0 3 3 - 12 The Brook Hill Lady Guard varsity softball team was back on the field of play last week, as the team began the week by hosting a district game against the All Saints Lady Trojans Monday, April 23, at Brook Hill’s Schwab Field. To begin the contest, the Lady Guard broke out the strong bats against the lady Trojans, swinging to score a total of four runs in the first inning, as well as two more runs in the bottom of the second inning. Brook Hill held the momentum of the district affair in their hands throughout the game, as the team plated three runs in the fourth inning and three additional runs in their share of the fifth, while All Saints could only collect one run in the top of the fifth inning, as the Lady Guard claimed the district win against the Lady Trojans, 12-1. The Lady Guard left little doubt as to which team held the advantage at the plate, as the team swung for a total of 14 hits, while the Lady Trojans collected just one hit in the game. Brook Hill committed a total of two fielding errors, while All Saints was spotless in the field. The strong swing of Brook Hill’s Micah Lovelady proved to be sure in the contest against All Saints, as she finished the game with a 3-4 performance, including a triple and a home run, with a total of four runs batted in. Other significant contributors for the Lady Guard against the Lady Trojans included McKenna Lovelady, going 2-3, including a double, with three RBIs and one stolen base; Maddie Anthony, going 4-4, including two doubles, with two RBIs and two stolen bases; Kasey Anderson, going 3-4, including a double and a triple, with two stolen bases; Grace Yeager, going 1-1; Neeley Clark, going 1-2 with one stolen base; and Cassie Cannon, going 0-3 with one RBI. Credited with the win in the circle for Brook Hill against All Saints was Anderson, allowing one hit and one run, while striking out 10 and walking two, in five innings of work. Brook Hill Lady Guard 14, All Saints Lady Trojans 0, FINAL BH: 2 8 3 0 1 - 14 AS: 0 0 0 0 0 - 0 Finishing their week in district action, the Brook Hill Lady Guard varsity softball team traveled the short distance to Tyler for their final district contest of the season against the All Saints Lady Trojans Wednesday, April 25, at All Saints High School. The Brook Hill batters proved to have packed their heavy bats for the short road trip game, collecting a total of two runs in the first inning of play. Power evidently was on the Lady Guard’s side in the middle innings of the contest, as eight runners found their way across home plate in the second frame, while three more runs were tacked on the Brook Hill in the third inning. To sew up the eventual outcome, Brook Hill added an additional run in the top of the fifth inning, while using their strong defensive and pitching performance to keep the bats of All Saints quiet, as the Lady Guard claimed the district win against the Lady Trojans in a shutout, 14-0. The Lady Guard’s Anthony was able to lead the charge for the team in the district contest against the Lady Trojans, going a perfect 3-3, including a home run, with a total of three RBIs. Other significant contributors for Brook Hill against All Saints included McKenna Lovelady, going 2-4 with two RBIs; Micah Lovelady, going 1-3, including a double, with two RBIs; Mary Roberts, going 1-2, including a double, with two RBIs; Anderson, going 3-4, including a double, with one RBI; Cannon, going 2-4 with one RBI and one stolen base; and Vanna Dean, going 0-1 with one RBI. Brook Hill’s Anderson earned her second district victory of the week against All Saints, allowing one hit and no runs, with 10 strikeouts, in five innings of work. With a record of 2-0 last week, the Brook Hill Lady Guard varsity softball team currently holds an overall record of 11-4, 6-1 in district play. The team has qualified for the TAPPS playoffs. more

The Bullard Panther varsity golf program returned to the links last week, as the team competed at the UIL Class 4A Region II Regional Golf Tournament, held Monday and Tuesday, April 23 and 24, at Van Zandt Country Club in Canton. Competing at the Regional golf tournament were both the Panther Red and White teams after the two teams finished atop the standings at the recent UIL District 15-4A Golf Tournament. more
Bullard Lady Panthers 10, Center Lady Roughriders 0, FINAL BHS: 1 0 0 0 6 3 - 10 CHS: 0 0 0 0 0 0 - 0 The Bullard Lady Panther varsity softball team prowled its way into postseason action last week, as the team loaded the bus and traveled to take on the Center Lady Roughriders in Game 1 of a best-of-three Bi-District series Thursday, April 26, at Center High School. The Lady Panthers were able to prowl ahead to an early lead in the contest, as one run found its way around the base path and across home plate in the top of the first inning. more

Members of the Brook Hill Guard and Lady Guard varsity track and field teams were on hand last week to compete for a shot of advancing to the sport’s largest stage by competing at the 2018 TAPPS 5A North Regional Track and Field Meet, held Thursday through Saturday, April 26-28, at Lancaster ISD’s Beverly D Humphrey Tiger Stadium. Thanks to their strong finishes at the Regional event, a total of five athletes will now represent Brook Hill at the upcoming TAPPS State Track and Field Championships, to be held Thursday through Saturday, May 3-5, at Waco Midway ISD. more
Several athletes competing for the Bullard Panther and Lady Panther varsity track teams were recently in action, participating in the UIL 4A District 15-16 Area Track Meet, held Thursday, April 19, at Carthage High School. Thanks to a number of strong finishes by both teams, the Panthers and Lady Panthers were well represented at the UIL Region II Track and Field Meet. more
Bullard was represented on the largest stage of Little Dribblers basketball last weekend, as the Bullard All-Stars junior division girls team made its way to compete at the National Little Dribblers American Tournament, held Wednesday through Saturday, April 18-21, at Franklin High School. more
