BH golf programs swing against strong competition in recent tournaments

The Brook Hill Guard and Lady Guard golf programs took to the golf course last week, competing in two separate invitational golf tournaments.

Brook Hill Guard:

The Brook Hill Guard varsity golf program played the part of host for the Brook Hill Invitational Golf Tournament held Monday, Feb. 6, at Emerald Bay Country Club in Bullard.

A total of two Brook Hill Guard varsity golf teams competed at the event, as well as several individual medalists.

The Guard varsity golf team was able to finish strong at the Brook Hill Invitational Golf Tournament, placing seventh with a team total score of 334, beating out the competition from Whitehouse, Grace Community, and Hallsville.

The team was led by the strong swing of Jacob Yeager, who finished with a score of 76, allowing him to tie for fifth place individually.

Other members of the Guard varsity golf team competing at the Brook Hill Invitational Golf Tournament included Logan Mimms, with a score of 79; Colton Drennan, with a score of 87; Jack Berry, with a score of 92; and Patrick Olmedo, with a score of 94.

The Brook Hill Guard Orange junior varsity golf team also took on the competition at the Brook Hill Invitational Golf Tournament, finishing in 16th place with a score of 404, finishing higher in the ranks than schools such as Overton and Palestine.

Conner Livesay was the low-scorer for the Guard Orange junior varsity team at the Brook Hill Invitational Golf Tournament, scoring a team-low 95.

Other members of the Brook Hill Guard Orange junior varsity team competing at the Brook Hill Invitational Golf Tournament included Greg Goates, with a score of 96; Jose Juarez, with a score of 106; Cole Overbeek, with a score of 107; Grant Goates, with a score of 118.

Also representing the Guard junior varsity golf program were a total of three individual medalists, including Daniel Gragg, with a score of 113; Walker Steele, with a score of 116; and Ben Funk, with a score of 119.

The Brook Hill Guard varsity golf team will compete next at the Brook Hill Invitational Golf Tournament, to be held Monday, Feb. 20, at Eagle’s Bluff Country Club, while the Guard junior varsity team will compete next at the Brook Hill Invitational Golf Tournament, to be held Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Emerald Bay Country Club.

Brook Hill Lady Guard:

The Brook Hill Lady Guard varsity golf team began the season last week by competing at the Spring Hill Invitational Golf Tournament, held Monday, Feb. 6, at Wood Hollow Country Club in Longview.

The Lady Guard varsity golf team finished the tournament strong, as the team competed against tough competition from area schools.

Emma French was the lowest-scoring Lady Guard varsity golfer at the Spring Hill Invitational Golf Tournament, putting her way to a score of 78, her personal best finish, and allowing her to finish as the third place individual medalist.

Other members of the Lady Guard varsity golf team competing at the Spring Hill Invitational Golf Tournament included Lori Wise, with a score of 112; and Ester Adeyemi, with a score of 122.

The Lady Guard varsity golf team will compete next at the Brook Hill Invitational Golf Tournament, to be held Thursday, Feb. 16, at Eagle’s Bluff Country Club in Bullard.
