Bullard, Brook Hill athletic departments continue to offer summer athletic camp opportunities

With summer vacation continuing for both Bullard Independent School District and The Brook Hill School, there are still several opportunities for young athletes to hone their athletic abilities through participation in summer athletic camps.

Bullard ISD Athletic Camps

Panther Power Strength and Conditioning:

The Bullard Panther Power Strength and Conditioning Camp will be a six-week long program beginning lasting until Thursday, July 27.

Sessions available for the Bullard Panther Power Strength and Conditioning Camp include a high intensity session for male athletes entering 10th through 12th grades from 6:30-8:30 a.m., a session for males entering seventh through ninth grades from 7:30-9 a.m., and a session for female athletes entering seventh through 12th grades from 9-10 a.m.

Although the camp has reached its half-way mark, the Bullard Panther Power Strength and Conditioning Camp will continue to meet Mondays through Fridays during the weeks of July 10-13, July 17-20, and July 24-27. The camp will take an off-week during the week of July 4.

Athletes will work alongside Bullard Panther and Lady Panther coaches to focus on power and strength, speed and agility, flexibility and mobility, and injury prevention.

The BHS athletic weight room will be open to athletes during the weeks of July 4, and July 31, with supervised hours to be posted at a later date.

Lady Panther Volleyball:

The Lady Panther volleyball program will hold a camp for incoming ninth grade athletes, to be held Monday through Wednesday, July 24-26, at the BHS gymnasium. Cost for the ninth grade camp will be $60.

Athletes are asked to wear appropriate clothing, including no jeans, jean shorts, halter tops, or spaghetti strap shirts. Kneepads are recommended for athletes participating.

Panther Football (Ninth Grade):

The Bullard Panther football camp exclusively for incoming ninth grade athletes will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Aug. 1-3, at Bullard Panther Stadium.

According to camp information, the camp will offer a great opportunity for players to begin learning and improving basic football fundamentals, begin developing relationships with their future coaches, and build a family atmosphere within the team.

In addition, players will learn the offensive and defensive scheme and the terminology that will be used in the Panther football program from ninth grade to varsity levels.

The camp will focus on the areas of fundamentals, speed and agility, injury prevention, and goal setting and academics.

The Panther football camp will be free to all incoming ninth grade athletes. Registration forms can be sent via mail to Bullard Athletics, Attn: Coach Callaway, 1426 S. Houston St., Bullard, Tex., 75757.

Panther Football (K-Eighth Grade):

The Bullard Panther football program will also host a camp for all incoming athletes from Kindergarten through eighth grade from 7:30-9 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Aug. 1-3, at Bullard Panther Stadium.

The camp registration form states that the camp will offer a great opportunity for players to begin learning and improving basic football fundamentals, begin developing relationships with their future coaches, and build a family atmosphere within the team.

The Brook Hill School

Soccer Camp:

The Brook Hill athletic department will host a camp for young soccer enthusiasts 8:30-11 a.m. Monday through Thursday, July 17-20, at Brook Hill’s Herrington Stadium.

The camp will emphasize soccer fundamentals, strategies, and rules of the game, while offering competitions and activities for all levels of play.

David Collins, Brook Hill’s head varsity coach and former college coach, is this year’s camp coach. Coach Collins’ Varsity Soccer Team advanced to the Division III Final Four State Soccer Tournament for four of the last six seasons.

The Brook Hill soccer camp is for both boys and girls entering Kindergarten through eighth grade. Attendees are asked to bring a soccer ball and shin guards.

Volleyball Camp:

Athletes interested in improving their volleyball skills and abilities will have an opportunity to do so, as the Brook Hill Lady Guard varsity volleyball program will host a volleyball camp 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, July 12-14, inside the Brook hill upper School gymnasium.

This Volleyball camp will sharpen and improve fundamental volleyball skills. Lunch will be provided as well as a camp shirt. Everything volleyball will be covered which includes: serving, passing, hitting, setting, and defense. Campers will enjoy scrimmaging on the final day after lunch.

Head coach Candise Wise is going into her second year as the Brook Hill Head Volleyball Coach. Wise was a collegiate softball athlete who was given the opportunity to play both softball and volleyball in college. She will be assisted by Mallory Simmons who played collegiate volleyball at Texas Women’s University.

Wise and Simmons helped to lead the Lady Guard to a tie for second in district last year, earning the team a berth into the playoffs.

The Brook Hill volleyball camp is open to athletes entering sixth through eighth grades. Cost for the camp will be $70, which included lunch each day, as well as a camp T-shirt.
