The regular scheduled monthly meeting of the Bullard City Council will not take place in the month of July.
According to an email obtained by Bullard Banner News, the July meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, July 10, was officially canceled on Friday, July 6.
City Manager Jay Abercrombie said the meeting was canceled due to a possible lack of a quorum and no urgent business needing to be discussed by the council.
“We chose to go ahead and cancel the July meeting because it looks like we may or may not have a quorum of council members present,” said Abercrombie. “It’s iffy right now. Also, we determined there wasn’t a lot of extremely pressing matters that needed the council’s approval in July that couldn’t wait until when we meet in August.”
According to Abercrombie, three of the five members of the Bullard City council must be present in order for a quorum to be declared, with the mayor and city manager not factoring into the quorum’s numbers.
The next scheduled meeting of the Bullard City Council is scheduled to take place 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14.
