The Azalea Orthopedics All-Star high school basketball games have been set for Saturday, April 14, at the Wagstaff Gymnasium on the Tyler Junior College campus.

Azalea is sponsoring the games for the 15th consecutive year. The Classic gives high school seniors in the East Texas area the opportunity to showcase their talent for college coaches and hometown fans.

“Each year this is a great event that we are fortunate to be able to sponsor,” said Dr. Michael Russell, Azalea President. “The amount of support we receive from schools, players, coaches, and East Texas basketball fans make this a special event.”

Area seniors are nominated by their high school coaches and are selected by an All-Star selection panel. Teams will also be divided based on their geographical location.

“This event means a lot to Azalea, we are proud of our commitment to this game year after year,” said Chase Doughten, Azalea Orthopedics Marketing Director. “The other thing that makes this great is when two long-standing rivals finally play together on the same team, you can feel the respect they have for one another.”

Coaches for this year’s All-Star game are Mandi Simpson of Gilmer High School, coach of the Girls East team; Chris Nickleberry of Teague High School, coach of the Girls West team; Joey Chism of Mount Pleasant High School, coach of the Boys East team; and Jay Jameson of Edgewood High School, coach of the Boys West team.

The rosters for the 15th annual Azalea Orthopedics All-Star high school basketball games, featuring a total of two athletes from Bullard High School – Bullard Lady Panther senior center Allie Kirgan and Bullard Panther senior point guard Will McCowin, both playing on Azalea West teams.

Doors to the event will open at 5 p.m., with the girl’s game slated to tip-off at 5:30 p.m. The boy’s game will follow at approximately 7 p.m.

Ticket prices are $6 for adults and $3 for students. Children age five and under are admitted for free. All proceeds from the All-Star game are donated to the Bethesda Clinic in Tyler.
