During a special scheduled board meeting on Friday, Feb. 2, the Bullard Independent School District Board of Trustees appointed Donny Williams to serve as Interim Principal at Bullard High School for the remainder of the 2017-2018 school year.
““We are blessed to have Mr. Donny Williams step up and lead BHS,” said Todd Schneider, Bullard ISD Superintendent. “He is a man of tremendous character and passion for students and staff. We look forward to the positive impact he will immediately make on the campus and community.”
The move to hire Williams as the interim principal at the district’s high school campus came after an announcement on the district’s social media accounts dated Friday, Jan. 26, saying that former principal Amanda Silkett accepted a new position within Bullard ISD and that the district was actively searching for someone to serve as principal on an interim timetable.
“Mrs. Silkett has accepted a curriculum administrative position within the district,” said Bullard ISD, in the social media post. “We are beginning the search for an Interim High School Principal immediately.”
Silkett was approved as the new BHS principal during a special called meeting of the Bullard Independent School District Board of Trustees in November 2016.
Williams has been in education for over 33 years, most recently in the capacity of administrator and high school principal at Lindale.
He earned a Bachelor degree in education from Southern Methodist University, as well as his Master degree in education from the University of Texas at Tyler, and a mid-management degree from Texas A&M University – Commerce.
“I am super excited about being at Bullard ISD,” said Williams. “There’s been a void in my heart with not having engagement with students and faculty for the past five years. My prayer every day is to have a positive influence on people; this position will certainly give me that opportunity once again.”
Williams has been married to Bobbie, a retired educator, for 27 years. They have three daughters: Katelyn, Kellyn, and Karalyn; as well as three grandchildren.
According to Bullard ISD, Williams officially started his tenure as BHS Interim Principal on Monday, Feb. 5.
