Bullard powerlifting teams claim silver, bronze finishes at Chapel Hill Invitational Meet

The Bullard Panther and Lady Panther varsity powerlifting teams were back in action last week as the teams took on the strong competition at the Tyler Chapel Hill Invitational Powerlifting Meet, held Thursday, Feb. 8, at Chapel Hill High School.

Bullard Panthers:

The Bullard Panther varsity powerlifting team competed well against the opposition at the Chapel Hill Invitational Powerlifting Meet, placing third as a team with a team total of 27 points, outlifting the competition from schools such as Sabine, Athens, and Henderson.

In the 114 pound weight class, Tyce Johnson was able to take home a second place finish with a squat of 265 pounds, bench press of 180 pounds, and deadlift of 300 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 745 pounds. He is currently fourth in the Region 3 Division 2 rankings.

Landon Warren competed for the Panthers in the 123 pound weight class at the Chapel Hill Invitational Powerlifting Meet, finishing in third place with a squat of 315 pounds, bench press of 195 pounds, and deadlift of 365 pounds, for a total weight of 875 pounds lifted. Currently, he is second in the Region 3 Division 2 rankings.

In the 148 pound weight class, Damion Brown was the top finisher for the Panthers, taking home the first place finish with a squat of 420 pounds, bench press of 255 pounds, and deadlift of 410 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 1,085 pounds. He is currently first in the Region 3 Division 2 rankings.

Also taking on the competition in the 148 pound weight class was John Engle, placing seventh with a squat of 315 pounds, bench press of 195 pounds, and deadlift of 325 pounds, for a total weight of 835 pounds lifted. Currently, he is 19th in the Region 3 Division 2 rankings.

Dakota Simmons was the final Panther to compete in the 148 pound weight class, taking home a 10th place finish with a squat of 300 pounds, bench press of 155 pounds, and squat of 325 pounds, for a total amount of 780 pounds lifted. He is currently 30th in the Region 3 Division 2 rankings.

In the 165 pound weight class, Jacob Waddill finished in 11th place with a squat of 225 pounds, bench press of 125 pounds, and deadlift of 335 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 685 pounds. Currently, he is 42nd in the Region 3 Division 2 rankings.

Jansen Mattingly represented the Panthers in the 181 pound weight class, placing second with a squat of 505 pounds, bench press of 310 pounds, and deadlift of 495 pounds, for a total amount of 1,310 pounds lifted. He is currently second in the Region 3 Division 2 rankings.

Also competing for Bullard in the 181 pound weight class was Reece Ricketts, securing a sixth place finish with a squat of 430 pounds, bench press of 300 pounds, and deadlift of 435 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 1,165 pounds. Currently, he is eighth in the Region 3 Division 2 rankings.

In the 220 pound weight class, Cameron Bridges finished in 10th place with a squat of 365 pounds, bench press of 240 pounds, and deadlift of 355 pounds, for a total amount of 960 pounds lifted. He is currently 37th in the Region 3 Division 2 rankings.

Blake Morris took on the competition in the 242 pound weight class, taking home seventh place with a squat of 355 pounds, bench press of 210 pounds, and deadlift of 315 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 880 pounds. Currently, he is 39th in the Region 3 Division 2 rankings.

In the 275 pound weight class, Carson Willborn secured a ninth place finish with a squat of 410 pounds, bench press of 215 pounds, and deadlift of 380 pounds, for a total amount of 1,005 pounds lifted. He is currently 34th in the Region 3 Division 2 rankings.

John Campbell was the top finisher for Bullard in the Super Heavy Weight weight class, finishing in first place with a squat of 680 pounds, bench press of 340 pounds, and deadlift of 470 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 1,490 pounds. Currently, he is third in the Region 3 Division 2 rankings.

Also competing for the Panthers in the Super Heavy Weight weight class was Tanner Hathaway, placing fourth with a squat of 400 pounds, bench press of 165 pounds, and deadlift of 325 pounds, for a total amount of 890 pounds lifted. He is currently 33rd in the Region 3 Division 2 rankings.

Bullard Lady Panthers:

The Bullard Lady Panther varsity powerlifting team also finished strong against the opposition at the Chapel Hill Invitational Powerlifting Meet, placing second as a team with a team total of 36 points, finishing higher in the rankings than several teams such as Troup, Longview Pine Tree, and Athens.

In the 105 pound weight class, Addison Barnes was able to take home fourth place with a squat of 210 pounds, bench press of 80 pounds, and deadlift of 215 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 505 pounds. She is currently eighth in the Region 3 rankings.

Alyssa Huff competed for the Lady Panthers in the 132 pound weight class, securing a seventh place finish with a squat of 220 pounds, bench press of 100 pounds, and deadlift of 215 pounds, for a total amount of 535 pounds lifted. Currently, she is 16th in the Region 3 rankings.

Also competing fir Bullard in the 132 pound weight class was Samantha Pineda, placing 10th with a squat of 185 pounds, bench press of 75 pounds, and deadlift of 210 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 470 pounds. She is currently 27th in the Region 3 rankings.

In the 148 pound weight class, Audrey Shelton was the top finisher, placing first with a squat of 340 pounds, bench press of 170 pounds, and deadlift of 315 pounds, for a total amount of 825 pounds lifted. Currently, she is first in the Region 3 rankings.

Alexcis Lackey also saw action for the Lady Panthers in the 148 pound weight class at the Chapel Hill Invitational Powerlifting Meet, finishing 11th with a squat of 225 pounds, bench press of 115 pounds, and deadlift of 230 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 570 pounds. She is currently 22nd in the Region 3 rankings.

The final competitor for the Lady Panthers in the 148 pound weight class was Brooke Henry, taking home 13th place with a squat of 255 pounds, bench press of 100 pounds, and deadlift of 215 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 570 pounds. Currently, she is 22nd in the Region 3 rankings.

In the 165 pound weight class, Charity Campbell was able to claim first place with a squat of 350 pounds, bench press of 145 pounds, and deadlift of 300 pounds, for a total amount of 795 pounds lifted. For her efforts, Campbell was named the Outstanding Female Lifter – Heavy Platform at the Chapel Hill Invitational Powerlifting Meet. She is currently second in the Region 3 rankings.

Maria Vences also took part in the 165 pound weight class for the Lady Panthers, finishing in second place with a squat of 325 pounds, bench press of 120 pounds, and deadlift of 275 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 720 pounds. Currently, she is sixth in the Region 3 rankings.

In the 220 pound weight class, Annabelle Price placed first with a squat of 395 pounds, bench press of 130 pounds, and deadlift of 300 pounds, for a total amount of 825 pounds lifted. She is currently second in the Region 3 rankings.

Heather Coe was also in action for Bullard in the 220 pound weight class, finishing in third place with a squat of 315 pounds, bench press of 145 pounds, and deadlift of 320 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 780 pounds. Currently, she is fourth in the Region 3 rankings.

The final lifter for the Lady Panthers at the Chapel Hill Invitational Powerlifting Meet was Leighann Langston, placing second in the 259+ pound weight class with a squat of 350 pounds, bench press of 160 pounds, and deadlift of 305 pounds, for a total amount of 815 pounds lifted. She is currently fifth in the Region 3 rankings.
