Bullard powerlifting teams lift way to fifth place finishes at Rusk Invitational

The Bullard Panther and Lady Panther varsity powerlifting teams returned to heavy lifting action last week, as the teams loaded the bus and traveled to compete at the Rusk Eagles Invitational Powerlifting Meet, held Saturday, Feb. 3, at Rusk High School.

Bullard Panthers:

The Bullard Panther varsity powerlifting team took on the competition with determination at the Rusk Eagles Invitational Powerlifting Meet, taking home a fifth place finish with a team total score of 17 points.

One of the team’s lifters leading the way to the fifth place team finish was Landon Warren, placing first in the 123 pound weight class with a squat of 315 pounds, bench press of 190 pounds, and deadlift of 355 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 860 pounds. He is currently ranked second in Region 3 Division 2.

Damion Brown was also able to finish atop the ranks in his weight class, securing a first place finish in the 148 pound weight class with a squat of 405 pounds, bench press of 255 pounds, and deadlift of 385 pounds, for a total amount of 1,045 pounds lifted. He is now ranked first in Region 3 Division 2.

Also competing for the Panthers in the 148 pound weight class was John Engle, placing eighth with a squat of 310 pounds, bench press of 195 pounds, and deadlift of 310 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 815 pounds. He is currently ranked 21st in Region 3 Division 2.

In the 181 pound weight class, Reece Ricketts finished in sixth place with a squat of 415 pounds, bench press of 265 pounds, and deadlift of 420 pounds, for a total amount lifted of 1,100 pounds. He is now ranked 10th in Region 3 Division 2.

The Panthers were represented by Cameron Bridges in the 220 pound weight class, taking home eighth place with a squat of 335 pounds, bench press of 215 pounds, and deadlift of 345 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 895 pounds. He is currently ranked 39th in Region 3 Division 2.

Carson Wilborn took on the competition in the 242 pound weight class at the Rusk Eagles Invitational Powerlifting Meet, placing 13th with a squat of 400 pounds, bench press of 205 pounds, and deadlift of 370 pounds, for a total amount of 975 pounds. He is now ranked 28th in Region 3 Division 2.

In the Super Heavy Weight weight class, John Campbell claimed a third place finish with a squat of 670 pounds, bench press of 340 pounds, and deadlift of 490 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 1,500 pounds. He is currently ranked second in Region 3 Division 2.

Tanner Hathaway also competed for the team in the Super Heavy Weight weight class, securing an 11th place finish with a squat of 360 pounds, bench press of 160 pounds, and deadlift of 315 pounds, for a total amount of 835 pounds. He is now ranked 31st in Region 3 Division 2.

Bullard Lady Panthers:

The Bullard Lady Panther varsity powerlifting team also performed well at the Rusk Eagles Invitational Powerlifting Meet, placing fifth as a team with a team total of 21 points.

In the 132 pound weight class, Alyssa Huff took home a sixth place finish with a squat of 220 pounds, bench press of 95 pounds, and deadlift of 210 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 525 pounds. She is currently ranked 15th in Region 3.

Samantha Pineda also competed for the Lady Panthers in the 132 pound weight class, finishing eighth with a squat of 160 pounds, bench press of 75 pounds, and deadlift of 205 pounds, for a total amount of 440 pounds lifted. She is now ranked 27th in Region 3.

In the 148 pound weight class, Ahlexcis Lackey placed sixth with a squat of 215 pounds, bench press of 100 pounds, and deadlift of 240 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 555 pounds. She is currently ranked 21st in Region 3.

Audrey Shelton was able to take home the first place medal in the 165 pound weight class, finishing with a squat of 330 pounds, bench press of 170 pounds, and deadlift of 305 pounds, for a total amount lifted of 805 pounds. She is now ranked third in Region 3.

Charity Campbell also represented the team in the 165 pound weight class, securing a third place finish with a squat of 315 pounds, bench press of 140 pounds, and deadlift of 300 pounds, for a total weight of 755 pounds lifted. She is currently ranked third in Region 3.

The final lifter for the Lady Panthers in the 165 pound weight class was Moria Vences, finishing in fifth place with a squat of 315 pounds, bench press of 110 pounds, and deadlift of 250 pounds, for a total amount lifted of 675 pounds. She is now ranked eighth in Region 3.

In the 198 pound weight class, Mallory Hopper placed seventh with a squat of 170 pounds, bench press of 85 pounds, and deadlift of 220 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 475 pounds. She is currently ranked 19th in Region 3.

Heather Coe was able to finish in third place in the 220 pound weight class, with a squat of 325 pounds, bench press of 155 pounds, and squat of 300 pounds, for a total amount of 780 pounds lifted. She is now ranked third in Region 3.

Also competing in the 220 pound weight class for the Lady Panthers was Annabelle Price, securing a seventh place finish with a squat of 350 pounds, bench press of 130 pounds, and deadlift of 225 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 705 pounds. She is currently ranked sixth in Region 3.

The final competitor representing the Bullard girls team was Leighann Langston, who took home first place in the 259+ weight class with a squat of 340 pounds, bench press of 130 pounds, and deadlift of 300 pounds, for a total amount of 770 pounds lifted. She is now ranked seventh in Region 3.
