Bullard XC teams place well at tough Tyler Lee meet

The Bullard Panther and Lady Panther varsity and junior varsity cross country teams were back in action last week, as the teams traveled the short distance to Tyler to compete in the Tyler Lee XC Classic, held Saturday, Sept. 5, at the University of Texas at Tyler.

Panther Varsity:

The Bullard Panther varsity cross country team was able to maneuver the course of the Tyler Lee XC Classic well, securing a fifth place team finish in the 4A and Under Varsity Boys race, with a team total score of 178 points, outperforming the competition from area schools such as Fairfield, Princeton, and Elysian Fields.

The fastest runner for the Panther varsity cross country team to make his was across the finish line was Hayden Jeffus, taking home a 10th place finish with a time of 17:59.13.

Other Panther varsity cross country runners competing at the Tyler Lee XC Classic included Harrison Meador, placing 32nd with a time of 19:00.48; Connor Hanna, placing 36th with a time of 19:12.60; Caleb Carmichael, placing 37th with a time of 19:13.52; Jordan Christopher, placing 63rd with a time of 20:15.92; Zach Arroyo, placing 84th with a time of 20:51.85; and Nick Calhoon, placing 94th with a time of 21:13.87.

Lady Panther Varsity:

The Bullard Lady Panther varsity cross country team also had a strong performance at the Tyler Lee XC Classic, claiming a 12th place team finish in the 4A and Under Varsity Girls contest, with a total of 367 points, beating out several local teams including Hughes Springs, Pollok Central, and Whitehouse.

Lady Panther varsity cross country runner Emily Berry led the team down the trails of the Tyler Lee XC Classic, taking home 27th place with a time of 12:54.27.

Other Lady Panther varsity cross country runners taking part in the Tyler Lee XC Classic included Rebekah Brasher, placing 75th with a time of 14:06.53; Keely Linebaugh, placing 86th with a time of 14:15.69; Erin Berry, placing 89th with a time of 14:20.23; Hanna Haning, placing 90th with a time of 14:22.20; and Alex Breedlove, placing 91st with a time of 14:23.62.

Panther Junior Varsity:

Also competing against the tough competition at the Tyler Lee XC Classic was the Bullard Panther junior varsity cross country team, securing a 27th place team finish with an overall team score of 772 points, defeating the competition from schools such as Kemp, Elysian Fields, and Texarkana Pleasant Grove.

The Panther junior varsity cross country team was led at the Tyler Lee XC Classic by Riley Younger, finishing in 115th place with a time of 21:51.23.

Other Panther junior varsity cross country runners competing in the Tyler Lee XC Classic included Zach Van Winkle, placing 116th with a time of 21:56.02; Trinton Dublin, placing 166th with a time of 23:23.43; Walker Stegall, placing 183rd with a time of 24:15.53; Colin Anderson, placing 192nd with a time of 25:02; Zach Thompson, placing 193rd with a time of 25:02.04; and Cooper Rankin, placing  203rd with a time of 26:52.38.

Lady Panther Junior Varsity:

The Bullard Lady Panther junior varsity cross country team battled the fierce competition at the Tyler Lee XC Classic, as the team placed 20th overall with a team score of 504 points, outracing the competing from schools such as John Tyler, Robert E. Lee, and Texarkana Texas High.

Haley Day served as the leader of the pack for the Lady Panther junior varsity cross country team at the event, finishing in 61st place with a time of 15:18.39.

Other Lady Panther junior varsity cross country runners taking part in the Tyler Lee XC Classic included Cami Younger, placing 95th with a time of 16:00.30; Julehissa Galvan, placing 96ht with a time of 16:01.93; Payton Brown, placing 105th with a time of 16:19.20; Caleigh Graybill, placing 147th with a time of 18:03.75; and Perry Burchfield, placing 152nd with a time of 18:13.52.

Next meet: Friday, Sept. 15 - Hallsville XC Invitational at Longview's Lear Park.
