The Bullard Education Foundation has announced details regarding the upcoming ninth annual BEF Strides for Excellence Fun Run, to be held 8 p.m. Friday, March 30, on the grounds of the Bullard Independent School District.
“We are super excited about this year’s event because it’s always great to see the Bullard community come together to support a worthy cause such an organization giving back to students at Bullard ISD,” said Erin Thiem, BEF president. “It’s our biggest fundraiser event of the year. It’s a great family event that allows us to glow brightly for education at our local school district.”
Participants will take part in the event’s second annual BEF Strides for Excellence 5K Color Glow Run, to run during nighttime, continuing the event’s transition from a color fun run to a glow-in-the-dark race.
“BEF is all about striving and promoting innovation in our children’s educational experience while attending Bullard ISD schools,” said Thiem. “We feel that having a glow run is more innovative than a regular color run race; a lot of organizations are now having color runs, but we’re unique and innovative at Bullard, both in our event planning and educational ideas.”
According to Thiem, who served as a member of BEF last year, said the inaugural event last year received positive feedback from participants and attendees.
“We heard how fun the event was, especially the party at the end of the race,” said Thiem. “I think a lot of people enjoyed the new aspect of the run, and they certainly glowed all around the Bullard ISD campuses. The event was enjoyed by all participants, both children and adults.”
Similar to last year’s race, runners will start at Bullard High School and begin down Panther Crossing towards the intersection of School House Rd. Runners will continue to the front of the Bullard Intermediate School drop-off line, then go through the Bullard Middle School drop- off line and come back past the BHS Baseball Complex to the Bullard Early Childhood Campus bus circle.
After making the circle at BECC, racers will return towards the baseball fields and continue down Panther Crossing, taking the traffic loop around the Bullard Elementary School and Bullard Primary School campuses. The route will bring runners back to Panther Crossing, where they will continue down to the road, going past the BHS Agriculture Building and behind BHS. The finish line and celebration party location will be at the BHS campus.
