Panther golf teams swing way to Regionals

The Bullard Panther and Lady Panther golf teams recently completed their regular season schedule for the 2018 spring semester, with several of the teams’ members advancing to the upcoming Regional tournament.

Bullard Panthers:

The first event for the Panther golf program was their own, as the team hosted the Bullard Panther Invitational Golf Tournament Thursday, Feb. 8, at Cherokee Ranch Golf Club in Jacksonville.

At the event, the Bullard men’s golf teams swung their way to successful finishes, with the Panther Red team placing second with a team total score of 339, while the Panther Blue team took home 11th place with a team overall score of 404.

Leading the Bullard Red team at the Bullard Panther Invitational Golf Tournament was the duo of Garrett Esposito and Harrison Hopson, finishing in third place individually with a score of 77 and tied for seventh place with a score of 84, respectively.

Other members of the Bullard Red golf team included Hayes Esposito, with a score of 85; Smith, with a score of 93; and Kelley, with a score of 96.

Harrison House carded the lowest score for the Bullard Blue team, finishing the tournament with a score of 93.

Alternative members of the Bullard Blue team at the Bullard Panther Invitational Golf Tournament included Nathan Ferguson, with a score of 94; Nick Kraemer, with a score of 99; Cooper Callaway, with a score of 118; and Mason Honeycutt, with a score of 119.

For their second tournament of 2018, the Panther golf teams traveled to compete at the Longview Lobo Invitational Golf Tournament, help Monday, Feb. 12, at Pinecrest Country Club.

The Bullard Red team was the lone team seeing action on the links at the event, securing a fourth place tem finish with a team total score of 329.

Hayes Esposito served as team leader at the Longview Lobo Invitational Golf Tournament, claiming a team-score of 80.

Other members of the Panther Red golf team at the Longview Lobo Invitational Golf Tournament included Kelley, with a score of 82; Hopson, with a score of 82; Smith, with a score of 85; and Gordon Hall, with a score of 98.

The third event on the schedule for the Bullard golf program was closer to home, as the team competed at the Brook Hill Invitational Golf Tournament, held Monday, Feb. 26, at Bullard’s Eagles Bluff Country Club.

Bullard’s top team had no trouble navigating the fairways of the Brook Hill Invitational Golf Tournament, securing a first place team finish with a team total score of 308.

Leading the Panther Red team at the Brook Hill Invitational Golf Tournament was Hayes Esposito, finishing as the event’s individual runner-up with a score of 72.

Other members of the Panther Red golf team at the Brook Hill Invitational Golf Tournament included Hopson, with a score of 74; Bellar, with a score of 77; Kelley, with a score of 85; and Smith, with a score of 85.

The Panther Blue team also competed well at the Brook Hill Invitational Golf Tournament, finishing with a team total score of 338.

Garrett Esposito swung the sure club for the Panther Blue team at the event, finishing with a score of 77.

Alternative members of the Panther Blue team at the Brook Hill Invitational Golf Tournament included Hall, with a score of 80; Kraemer, with a score of 88; Jonathan Horaney, with a score of 93; and House, with a score of 113.

Shortly afterwards, the top team in the Bullard Panther golf program hit the links at Oak Forest Country Club for the Hallsville Bobcat Invitational Golf Tournament, held Monday, March 5.

At the tournament, the Panthers finished at the third place team with a team score of 317, as Garrett Esposito led the way with the team’s lowest score of 75.

Other members of the Panther Red golf team competing at the Hallsville Bobcat Invitational Golf Tournament included Hayes Esposito, with a score of 76; Bellar, with a score of 80; Horaney, with a score of 86; and Smith, with a score of 90.

Both of the Bullard Panther golf teams loaded the bus and competed at the Canton Eagle Invitational Golf Tournament, held Monday, March 19, at Van Zandt Country Club.

The Panther Red and Blue golf teams were able to locate the greens well at the event, as the Red team took home second place team honors with a score of 307, while the Panther Blue team finished with a team score of 365.

Leading the Panther Red team at the Canton Eagle Invitational Golf Tournament was Hayes Esposito, finishing as the fifth place individual with a score of 75.

Other members of the Panther Red golf team playing at the event included Bellar, with a score of 77; Garrett Esposito, with a score of 77; Smith, with a score of 83; and Kelley, with a score of 83.

Likewise, the Panther Blue golf team was led at the Canton Eagle Invitational Golf Tournament by Hopson, swinging his way to a team-low score of 80.

Alternative members of the Panther Blue team taking part in the event were Kraemer, with a score of 91; Horaney, with a score of 91; Carmen Belasco, with a score of 103; and House, with a score of 103.

The Bullard teams also had a strong showing after competing at the All Saints Invitational Golf Tournament, held Monday, March 26, at Cascades Country Club.

Bullard’s Red team finished amongst the top teams competing at the event, placing second with a team score of 301, while the Panther Blue team placed 13th overall with a team total score of 342.

Scores for the Bullard Red team at the All Saints Invitational Golf Tournament included Bellar, finishing second individually with a score of 67; Garrett Esposito, with a score of 77; Hayes Esposito, with a score of 77; Smith, with a score of 80; and Kelley, with a score of 81.

Likewise, results from the event for the Panther Blue team included Hopson, with a score of 77; Kraemer, with a score of 79; Horaney, with a score of 88; Belasco, with a score of 98; and House, with a score of 99.

The Panther golf program packed their golf bags and loaded up to compete at the District 15-4A Golf Tournament, held Wednesday through Thursday, April 4-5, at Wood Hollow Golf Course.

Bullard proved to have the two best teams in the district tournament this year, as the Panther Red team placed first and was crowned as District Champions, with a team total score of 592, while the Panther Blue team finished in second as a team, with a team total score of 680.

Thanks to their strong finishes at the District 15-4A Golf Tournament, both Bullard teams will advance to the upcoming Class 4A Region II Regional Golf Tournament, scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, April 23 and 24, at Van Zandt Country Club.

The Panther Red team picked up two individual medals at the district event, as Hopson finished first and claimed the District Champion title with a two-day score of 147, while Bellar finished in fourth place with a score of 149.

Other members of the Bullard Red team competing at the District 15-4A Golf Tournament included Hayes Esposito, with a score of 148; Garrett Esposito, with a score of 148; and Kelley, with a score of 165.

For the Panther Blue team, Smith was the leader on the scorecard at the district tournament, finishing with a two-day score of 154.

Alternative members of the Panther Blue golf team competing at the District 15-4A Golf Tournament were Hall, with a score of 172; Horaney, with a score of 172; Kraemer, with a score of 182; and Belasco, with a score of 191.
