We celebrate the life of Ella Agnes Scott Griffiths, who passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018.
Born on March 20, 1923 to Jean and Wesley Scott in Alliston, Ontario, Canada, as one of 10 children, she graduated with her RN from Orillia School of Nursing.
Ella joined Trans-Canada Airlines as a flight attendant prior to meeting the love of her life, Evan Griffiths, to whom she remained married for 68 years.
They moved to the United States in 1950 and finally settled in Irving, Texas, in 1961 where they raised five children, instilling the importance of education, a strong work ethic and faith in God.
She was very proud of becoming a naturalized citizen and emphasized the importance of citizenship and the American dream with her children.
Ella and Evan enjoyed extensive travels and spending time with their family. Ella will be remembered for her fierce independence, her nurturing spirit, her bright, happy face and her fun-loving attitude. Ella loved the outdoors, enjoyed music, and adored babies.
Ella is survived by her devoted husband, Evan Griffiths, and their five children: Donna Freeman and husband, Don, of Tyler; Libby Garrett and husband, Jimmy, of Rowlett; Sue Ellen Shaw , and husband, Jim, of Fort Worth; Becky Prentice and husband, Al, of Colleyville; and Evan John and wife, Susan, of Dallas; as well as her 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service for Ella is planned for 1 p.m. Friday, February 23, at Bullard First United Methodist Church in Bullard, TX.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist of Bullard or Hospice of East Texas.
