Flint woman killed in two-vehicle accident north of Tyler


A flint woman was pronounced dead after officials responded to an accident scene during the afternoon hours of Saturday, Jan. 6.

At approximately 4:36 p.m. Saturday, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to a two vehicle fatal crash on County Road 46 in Smith County, about one mile north of the city of Tyler.

The preliminary crash investigation released by DPS trooper Jean Dark revealed that the driver of a 2007 Toyota Tacoma, identified as Olivia Brown Drew, 56, of Flint, was traveling southbound on State Highway 110.

Drew’s vehicle then left the roadway, traveling through a fence and then several hundred yards through private property, where it then struck a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro parked next to a residence on County Road 46.

Drew was pronounced dead at the scene by Smith County Justice of the Peace Precinct 5 Judge James Cowart. Her body was taken to the Southeast Texas Forensic Center in Tyler for an autopsy.

According to Dark, the crash still remains under investigation.
