With the 2016-2017 school year completed just days ago, the Brook Hill Guard varsity football team is looking forward to the next challenge, as initial plans for the 2017 installment of the Tyler Ford/Brook Hill American Warrior Bowl have been announced.
The 2017 Tyler Ford/Brook Hill American Warrior Bowl football game is slated to be held 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at Brook Hill’s Young Field at Herrington Stadium.
This year’s game will feature an international flair, as the Guard is preparing to host the Royal Imperial Collegiate School of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada.
As a part of the festivities of the 2017 Tyler Ford/Brook Hill American Warrior Bowl, Brook Hill will host a “Welcome To Texas” Bar-B-Q on Friday, Sept. 1, to welcome Royal Collegiate and kick off the American Warrior Bowl weekend.
The two teams will also participate in a joint service project at The East Texas Food Bank, as the two football teams will join Brook Hill’s Varsity Cheer Squad and the Cadett Drill Team in packing hundreds of meals for those in need in East Texas.
This year’s American Warrior Bowl will pay tribute to the veterans of both Gulf Wars as well as those who men and women who have served in Afghanistan.
In the 2016 season, the Brook Hill Guard was victorious in the 2016 2017 Tyler Ford/Brook Hill American Warrior Bowl, collecting a 48-27 victory over the Saint John Paul Eagles (Boca Raton, Fla.), the first win in the Guard’s Scott Ryle head coaching era.
According to Brook Hill athletic director Wally Dawkins, Brook Hill will also bring back the Tyler Ford/Brook Hill American Warrior Cross Country Run, tentatively scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2.
A press conference to kick off the event will be held in August. The exact date and time for the press conference will be announced at a later date.
