Lady Guard soccer begins new campaign with victory over Irving Highlands

The Brook Hill Lady Guard varsity soccer team marched their way into the 2017-2018 regular season last week, as the team traveled to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex for their season-opening bout against the Irving Highlands Lady Blazers Friday, Dec. 1.

With a barrage of offensive attacks and strong kicks, the Lady Guard was able to start the season off strong, claiming the non-district victory against the Lady Blazers, 4-2.

For the Lady Guard, a quartet of players found success with their kicks at the goal, including Emy Rose, Avery Latson, Kaylee Lake, and Sarah Walker.

Brook Hill’s goalkeeper Cassie Cannon was a defensive asset to her team, finishing the contest with a total of seven saves out of nine attempts.

“The Lady Guard soccer program has an exciting season ahead of them with tons of potential in store,” said Becky Knight, Brook Hill lady Guard varsity soccer head coach. “Very good things were happening on the field, which is always encouraging for a team. They played hard and finished strong and they are ready for their next game.”

With the victory against Irving Highlands, the Brook Hill Lady Guard varsity soccer team currently holds a 1-0 record on the 2017-2018 season.

Next week: Tuesday, Dec. 5 – Dallas Covenant at Brook Hill; Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 7-9 – Brook Hill at Tyler TNT Tournament.
