With the inaugural season for the Bullard Lady Panther varsity soccer team now in the record books, a number of the team’s players have been rewarded for their efforts on the playing field, as the 2018 District 15-4A Girls Soccer All-District Team awards were recently announced.

“I am very proud of the girls who received postseason district awards this year,” said Season Caughlin, Lady Panther soccer head coach. “I believe it really represents what we wanted to bring to the program in its first season. We were fortunate to have several players receiving awards our first year as a team, and we hope to continue to develop a winning tradition of Bullard Lady Panther soccer in the future.”

Headlining the All-District awards for the Lady Panthers was junior captain/defender Erin Monreal, who took home the honor of Defensive Most Valuable Player, the lone District Superlative received by the team.

In total, the Lady Panthers received three First Team All-District honors in their first season as a program, including junior midfielder Lindy Martin, sophomore forward Sara McKeethan, and midfielder Kaitlyn Nash.

Additionally, Bullard was credited with two Second Team All-District awards, presented to freshman midfielder Katelynn Henics and freshman midfielder Tatum Rigsby.

The final rewards form the District 15-4A Girls Soccer All-District Team accolades list received by the team were for Honorable Mention players. The Lady Panthers were able to collect three Honorable Mention awards, including senior midfielder Kailey Consford, sophomore defender Jacelyn Cowart, and junior goalie/captain Ashlyn Meador.

The Bullard Lady Panther varsity soccer team ended its first season of play with an overall record of 9-10-3, 4-4 in district play, on the 2018 season. The team advanced to the UIL playoffs, falling short to the Kilgore Lady Bulldogs in the Bi-District round.

Members of the inaugural Lady Panther soccer team in the 2018 season included Tatum Rigsby, Jarrett Whatley, Jacelyn Cowart, Macie Turrentine, Ashley Waterman, Mackenzie Pyle, Katelynn Henics, Sara McKeethan, Alicia Morrison, Kaitlyn Nash, Molly Martin, Lindy Martin, Ashlyn Meador, Kallie Priestner, Ashlynn Stewart, Kailey Consford, Erin Monreal, Emilee Lewis, Rachel Shumate, and Abbie Denman.

“It was a great first year for the program,” said Caughlin. “We were very excited about starting the team and being able to compete. Losing to a good Kilgore team in the playoffs, a team that made it all the way to the State tournament, shows us how close we are to accomplishing that goal ourselves. We’ve still got a lot to get done, but it was a great start to the program.”

The Lady Panther varsity soccer team is coached by Caughlin and assistant coaches Ciarra King and Cristy O’Bannon.
