A suspect is currently being sought by the Bullard Police Department after a suspect fled after being pulled over last week.

According to BPD Capitan Jeff Bragg, the incident occurred Thursday, Sept. 7, as the department’s Officer Hayes pulled over a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe with three individuals inside for having a non-functioning headlight on Highway 69, near the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 2493, in Bullard’s city limits.

Bragg said Hays asked all three men to exit the vehicle and placed the driver, identified as Jerry Pruitt, in handcuffs. As Hays searched and arrested the other two individuals, identified as Arnulfo Arreguin and Roderick Powers, and placed them into the patrol car, Pruitt then fled the scene on foot.

With a suspect on the run, the Bullard PD and Jacksonville PD K-9 units were called out, but were unable to locate the individual, according to Bragg. Also assisting in the search were the Cherokee and Smith County Sheriff’s Offices.

After searching the suspects and the vehicle, two handguns and approximately 173 grams of methamphetamine was discovered and confiscated by Hays.

Both Arreguin and Powers were transported by Bullard PD and booked into the Cherokee County Jail.

According to Bragg, Pruitt previously had a warrant for probation violation out of Nacogdoches County. Pruitt is described as a black male in his mid-20’s. As of publication time, Pruitt has not been located by authorities.

Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Pruitt is encouraged to call Bullard Police Department at (903) 894-7788 or 9-1-1.
